T is for Trust
T is for Trust and today for ABC Wednesday T is for the Shropshire Wildlife Trust and one special place is the Hope Valley Reserve - climbing up the hillside through the trees - an invigorating walk
A woodland walk of approx 3-4 miles
The Hope Valley reserve is home to the tiny dormouse -
Dormouse boxes are placed on trees throughout the wood -
We did't see any mice so we could only use our imagination to visualise their lives underneath the woodland debris and to wish them well
Time for a rest - and to admire the view across to Stiperstones
Further up the valley we called to view the tiny church - we were not able to enter the church
unfortunately the door was locked - a sign of the times unfortunately - I can remember a time when church doors were forever open

ReplyDeleteThe county wildlife trusts are such a great organisation - I used to be a member of the Somerset Trust - but it seems a little far off now!

DeleteI supported the trust petitions in the last quarrel over forests, and I now hear from them by email. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteGary was that the quarrel over forestS in the UK or over there - because there has been disputes in the UK about rights of way etc.
DeleteShame about the church. I also remember being able to just walk into a church....times have changed for sure.

DeleteTrust - a huge word, and beautifully exemplified in the care that has gone into preserving Hope Valley Reserve's treasures. That little dormouse sure is adorable and it is heartwarming to see the houses prepared for them.

ReplyDeleteA box (home) for the doormouse is a new one for me. Very interesting.
I lost count of the numger of boxes - there was so many in the woods - thanks for calling
DeleteNice place to walk! Yes, it is sad that church doors are often locked during the week. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place to explore. I enjoyed the shots very much.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool Jane..I didn't know that the dormouse was real...it is a beautiful area to visit even if you didn't see any mice...Michelle
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for Wildlife Trusts..... it's nice to know the small and timid are not forgotten.
ReplyDeleteI was up there at the end of Feb, it is a very steep walk in places, didn't catch a glimpse of anything sadly. I was a bit disappointed at the end of the walk there was a dog friendly style which lead into a farm yard then - end, had to turn back, lovely views though.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well you seem to have disappeared.
Jayne.
